Statement regarding visitor numbers for 2019

Director Erlend G. Høyersten has made the following statement regarding visitor figures for 2019:

“2019 has been a year in which ARoS has extended the opening hours for the entire museum on weekdays to 9.00 pm and invested in a major refurbishment of Level 4 to create ARoS Marked. Although we are still in the running-in phase, we can already see that this change has been well received by our visitors. We have made the museum more accessible and strengthened our role as an urban social hub.

In 2019, ARoS welcomed 718,061 visitors, of whom 547,247 purchased tickets for the exhibitions. Compared with 2018, this represents an increase, which was in line with our expectations. In 2020, we will continue with initiatives that will strengthen our position as an innovative and inclusive museum.”
