Reorganisation and changes to the ARoS Board of Trustees

These changes mark the first step in a generational transition within the Board of Directors, which it has been decided to implement over the coming years. Chairman Carsten Fode will therefore step down from the board over the next couple of years, and board member Niels Lehmann will step down when his current term of office expires.

At this year’s first board meeting today, 7 January, the ARoS Board of Directors has constituted itself as follows:

Chair of the Board: Carsten Fode

Vice-Chair of the Board: Jacob Hansen Beuschau

Following a recommendation from the nomination committee, appointed in accordance with Article 6.4 of the museum’s Articles of Association, the ARoS board has approved the appointment of Steen Stavnsbo (55), has joined the board as a new member, replacing the state-authorised public accountant Carsten Mikkelsen, who is stepping down from the board.

These changes mark the first step in a generational transition on the Board, which it has been decided to implement over the coming years. Chairman of the Board Carsten Fode will therefore step down from the board over the next few years, and board member Niels Lehmann will step down when the current term of office expires.

The aim of the ARoS Board is to ensure that it comprises individuals who, through their respective areas of expertise, are best placed to carry out the tasks incumbent upon the Board. Emphasis is placed on ensuring that board members possess the necessary managerial, cultural/artistic, political, business, legal and financial backgrounds. International experience is also considered important. In Steen Stavnsbo, the museum has gained a board member who brings experience from political life, possesses strong business and financial expertise, and has a broad national and international network. Steen Stavnsbo also has extensive experience of board work on both international and Danish boards in both the private and public sectors. In 2018, he took up the post of Chair of the Board at Aarhus Letbane. This range of skills will strengthen the ARoS board in its ongoing work to develop ARoS into one of Europe’s leading art museums and a significant player in society.

The board and the whole of ARoS would like to welcome Steen Stavnsbo and, at the same time, thank Carsten Mikkelsen for his many years of commitment and great efforts on the ARoS board.

As of today, the ARoS Board consists of the following members:

  • Carsten Fode, Chair of the Board

  • Jacob Hansen Beuschau, Vice-Chairman

  • Niels Overgaard Lehmann, Board Member

  • Danny Lange, Board Member

  • Laura Hay Uggla, Board Member
