Opening celebration of James Turrells Skyspace at ARoS

On Friday 19 June, approximately 3,000 guests had the opportunity to experience ARoS’s large, new artwork, As Seen Below – The Dome, a Skyspace by James Turrell.

The afternoon featured concerts, festivities, and workshops in Musikhusparken, before the Royal Couple arrived, along with several other specially invited guests, for the official opening at ARoS that evening.

Museum Director Rebecca Matthews and Mayor Anders Winnerskjold welcomed the guests with opening remarks, and there was also a special greeting from James Turrell, who was following the day closely from his home in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The Royal Couple were the first of the evening’s guests to experience the Skyspace before attending a dinner at the museum. The evening concluded with a special opening concert in As Seen Below in conjunction with Twilight at sunset.

As Seen Below is part of the museum’s collection and opens on 20 June. Throughout the summer, the opening will be celebrated with concerts, talks, yoga, meditation, and childrens activities.
