Rock – Paper – Scissors
About the exhibition
The exhibition Sten – Saks – Papir is a broad presentation of works from the museum's collection, based on the well-known game of chopping with your hands to see who wins. Rock beats scissors. Scissors beats paper. And paper beats rock. With a focus on materiality, artistic processes and experiments, the exhibition is divided into three rooms with works that relate material-wise or thematically to the categories of rock, paper and scissors - or in other words: the hard, the composite and the delicate.
In its entirety, the exhibition Stone - Scissors - Paper is a dialogue across time and art historical periods. The exhibition features works by artists from the past as well as the present. For example, H.C. Andersen is placed in dialogue with contemporary artistic expression, which, in line with the experimental art forms of the past, continues to explore and mix different materials, genres and styles from different historical periods.
The playful approach to art is a common thread running through this collection presentation. It reflects the creative processes behind the realisation of the works, but also mirrors the current social trends and values that continue to live on in contemporary art.
