About the exhibition

Do Ho Suh strives to touch on the emotional register associated with home, which for him is always in motion. The different spaces that become changing homes throughout life and that, for him, also transcend (national) borders, also come to represent different mental states, just like life's many emotional processes. Through these transportable, architectural spatialities, Do Ho Suh exhibits his interest in the concept of "home" in the context of modern man's global, nomadic existence. What is a special place, what form does it take and what history does it have? In particular, he focuses on the psychology that must be present in order to feel at home.

About the exhibition

There is something meditative about the way Do Ho Suh works when he creates his Hubs. He meticulously sews every detail of the rooms so that door handles and electrical outlets are placed just like in real rooms. The seams help to stiffen the fabric so that the large transparent fabric panels can stand upright in the air. Delicate and precise, they give the impression of weightless corridors assembled into long corridors. Details such as buttons and skirting boards appear as you move through the rooms, like a kind of memory emerging from the spaces that make up the artist's phases in life. A bit like a dream, where reality, the past and the present merge.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an illustrated catalogue which, in addition to an introductory text by the exhibition curator, museum curator Jeanett Stampe, will also include an essay by Carsten Thau, professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture.
