Barbara Kruger - No Comment
About the exhibition
The scene is set with the first major survey in Scandinavia of the American artist Barbara Kruger. For over 40 years, Kruger’s astute observations of society have reflected, and critically examined, our contemporary condition.
By skillfully harnessing the seductive power of pictures and words, Kruger combines images drawn from mass-media with concise, authoritative language to question social and power relations.
Titled No Comment, the exhibition showcases Kruger’s iconic early works, alongside recent vinyl wall and floor installations, LED, video, and sound works. The exhibition on Level 1 will occupy the central atrium where a new site-specific commission running the full height of the museum – 30 metres – will be unveiled.
Additionally, in unexpected places such as ARoS Butik and ARoS’ restrooms sound pieces will be installed as interventions. The exhibition follows you into the public realm through a unique collaboration with Aarhus Lightrail for the duration of the exhibition.
Get ready to be challenged. Barbara Kruger – No Comment. Curated by Ellen Drude Skeel Langvold.
