About the exhibition
To mark the inauguration of ARoS Art Square, located between Musikhusparken and ARoS’ main entrance, Danish artist Cecilie Waagner Falkenstrøm (b. 1984) has been commissioned to create a large-scale, interactive installation: A Black Hole Calling Us.
This immersive work invites you on a journey toward—and into—a black hole. Developed in collaboration with the Niels Bohr Institute (Center of Gravity and Yonder Art•Science), Falkenström's work explores black holes as some of the most powerful and enigmatic phenomena in the universe. These cosmic forces are both destructive and generative – shaping galaxies and influencing the very evolution of the universe.
The installation translates advanced space research on black holes into a sensory and accessible art experience questioning our own place in cosmos – our fragility, our curiosity, and our longing to grasp what lies beyond the limits of perception.
A Black Hole Calling Us sets the tone for ARoS’ new outdoor space and marks the beginning of a new chapter for the museum – where imagination and cosmic inquiry meet.
