Visitor figures for 2020

In 2020, ARoS had 440,869 visitors, of whom 381,484 had purchased tickets

“2020 has been the most challenging and unusual year in ARoS’s history. We have experienced major setbacks due to the enforced closures in the spring and in December/January, but we have also had bright spots, with record visitor numbers in July, the launch of the museum’s extension, The Next Level, and a strong programme of exhibitions.

Covid-19 has had major consequences for ARoS and for cultural life as a whole – and especially for independent artists and cultural workers, who are currently suffering as a result. But during the crisis, we have also felt the support of the Danish people and their need for a cultural life that fosters a sense of community in times of crisis.

We are entering a year in which the pandemic will continue to affect the way we live, but also one in which we invite the public to enjoy a diverse programme of exhibitions and great artistic experiences." – Director Erlend G. Høyersten.
