New members of the ARoS Board of Trustees

From January 2022, the ARoS Board of Trustees will have three new members.

Following a recommendation from the nominations committee, which was established in accordance with Article 6.4, the ARoS Board of Trustees approved at its meeting on Tuesday 17 August 2021 the appointment of Marianne Bedsted, Director of Salling, Helle Østergaard Kristiansen, CEO of Danske Commodities, and Marc Perera Christensen, Director of Erhverv Aarhus, will join the ARoS Board at the turn of the year.

The three new members will replace the current Chair of the Board, Carsten Fode, Steen Stavnsbo and Kristine Jensen. Whilst Carsten Fode and Kristine Jensen are stepping down as part of a planned generational change, Steen Stavnsbo is stepping down as he is standing as a candidate for Aarhus City Council later this year.

The aim of the ARoS Board is to ensure that it comprises individuals who, through their respective skill sets, are best placed to carry out the tasks incumbent upon the Board. Emphasis is placed on ensuring that board members possess the necessary managerial, cultural/artistic, political, commercial, legal and financial backgrounds. International experience is also considered important.

The Board and the whole of ARoS would like to welcome Marianne Bedsted, Helle Østergaard Kristiansen and Marc Perera Christensen.

The ARoS Board consists of nine members. Of these, six are appointed by the Board following recommendations from the Nomination Committee. Two members are appointed by Aarhus Municipality and one member is elected by the museum’s permanent staff.

The board members appointed following recommendations from the nomination committee will, from 1 January 2022, be as follows:

  • Niels Overgaard Lehmann

  • Danny Lange

  • Laura Hay Uggla

  • Marianne Bedsted

  • Helle Østergaard Kristiansen

  • Marc Perera Christensen

The Board will elect a Chair and Deputy Chair at its first meeting in 2022.
