ARoS ready to reopen

When ARoS is hopefully able to reopen its doors again before long, the museum will be ready with a range of new measures to ensure that visitors can move around the museum safely.

- We are ready to open at a moment’s notice. ARoS covers 21,000 square metres. Of these, over 13,000 square metres are open to the public, and we are already used to handling large numbers of visitors. We have long opening hours, which gives us ample opportunity to spread visitors out safely throughout the day,” says Erlend G. Høyersten, Director of ARoS.

The new measures include, amongst other things, extra cleaning and hand sanitiser for museum visitors, one-way systems in the galleries, stairwells and in ‘Your rainbow panorama’, the installation of plexiglass screens at the information desk and at the till in the café and shop, as well as the safe reorganisation of the café and the orangery. At the same time, a plan has been drawn up to ensure that ARoS staff can return to work safely.

- With these new measures in place, we feel confident about welcoming the public and staff back to the museum. ARoS creates shared experiences and can help get things moving again. “If, for example, DIY stores can stay open, then ARoS and other museums should also be able to open,” says Erlend G. Høyersten.

Measures:

  • Additional cleaning and security staff will be deployed

  • Visible information on guidelines regarding, amongst other things, social distancing and handwashing on arrival at the museum

  • Social distancing markings at the ticket office, shop and café

  • Hand sanitiser at entrances and other selected locations

  • The lift is reserved for visitors with mobility difficulties and pushchairs

  • Plexiglass screens at the ticket office, café and shop

  • Signs indicating the maximum number of visitors allowed in the café and shop

  • One-way systems in the galleries, ‘Your Rainbow Panorama’ and on the stairs

  • Appropriate layout of the café and orangery

  • ARoS Public, the auditorium and the children’s dining area on Level 3 are closed Installation art on Level 0 is closed

  • Prams and wheelchairs will not be available for hire

The guidelines for both staff and visitors at ARoS are updated on an ongoing basis in accordance with the authorities’ recommendations, including guidelines issued by the Health Authorities, the Danish Working Environment Authority, the Ministry of Employment, the Ministry of Business and Industry, and the Danish Patient Safety Authority.
