ARoS is reopening

After more than two months of closure, ARoS can finally reopen its doors to the public.

From tomorrow, Friday 22 May, ARoS will once again be able to welcome visitors to the museum. This follows yesterday’s discussions on extending phase 2 of the reopening.

- It is a great pleasure that we can once again open ARoS and invite the public to explore our exhibitions and our fantastic building. It is vital for society as a whole and for mental health that cultural institutions such as ARoS are allowed to open, and we can assure you that we are complying with all the necessary precautions so that visitors can move safely around the museum,” says Director Erlend G. Høyersten, Director of ARoS.

Mythologies across 3,000 square metres

The reopening of ARoS means that the museum can now open its doors to the mega-exhibition *Mythologies – The Beginning and End of Civilisations, an exhibition about faith, hope, crises and revolution, and about how the power of storytelling has shaped and transformed societies, from Greek myths to today’s welfare states.

- Due to the coronavirus crisis, the exhibition has become even more relevant, as it explores narratives in times of upheaval – and this is precisely the kind of time we are living through right now. It is now that we are truly discovering which values are at stake, and it is now that new values are emerging. The exhibition encourages us to reflect on this, says Erlend G. Høyersten.

ARoS will be open extra hours on Mondays from 10.00 to 21.00 from May through to August.
