ARoS Publishing

ARoS Aarhus Art Museum has its own publishing company. The publications are related to the museum collections and exhibitions.

ARoS Publishers is included on the BFI list (The Bibliometric Research Indicator) and is thus recognised as a research-approved and scoring publisher. The recognition of ARoS Publishing is based on peer reviews of the articles and catalogues we have published since 2013.

In accordance with our vision plan ARoS 2020, it is also a clear goal for the museum to act as a professional authority characterised by relevance and high integrity. ARoS Publishing is included on the BFI list (The Bibliometric Research Indicator) and is thus recognised as a research-approved and creditable publisher.

The recognition of ARoS as a serious player with publications at a high professional level is the result of the many peer-reviewed articles and catalogues that the museum has published, starting in 2013 with the research publication "Gold - Treasures from the Danish Golden Age" and the ARoS Focus series from 2015-2017: 1. Gardar Eide Eniarsson, 2. E.B.Itso, 3. Djurberg and Berg, 4. Jani Leinonen, Meric Algün Ringborg, 6. Jakob Kirkegaard, 8. Toril Johannessen and 9. Dodda Maggy. Most recently, the catalogues for the exhibitions "The Wild, Daring and Late Willumsen" from 2016 and the current "The Garden" are also peer-reviewed.

  • The museum's research publications are peer-reviewed according to the following standard:

  • The reviewer is always external and independent of the museum.

  • The reviewer has a PhD degree or similar academic level.

  • The assessment is double-blind, i.e. the two parties do not know each other's identity. This must be documented from time to time.

  • The reviewer prepares a written assessment of the manuscript in which the scientific standards, academic relevance and quality are assessed and any suggestions for improvement are described.

  • The peer-reviewed articles must be research-based and scientific articles, but preferably presented in a reader-friendly language
