Lars Aarhenius - Glimt fra storbyen
About the exhibition
Lars Arrhenius (b. 1966 in Sweden) has been working with digital animation films and large graphic wall installations composed of c-prints since the late 1990s. The main theme of his art is man and the dramas of everyday life. Despite the simplicity of expression, Arrhenius' works contain fine emotional dimensions of both seriousness and humour.
Arrhenius has achieved great international recognition. His art is shown in numerous solo exhibitions at museums and galleries in Europe and the USA, and he is represented with works at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Malmö Konstmuseum and ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, among others.
The exhibition included two large wall installations with 171 and 141 images and six animated films. Including his most recent work, "The Big Store" from 2008, which shows the last eight minutes leading up to the murder of Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh in the luxurious NK department store in Stockholm in September 2003.
