About the exhibition
With works by 10 international artists from a young private collection, ARoS challenges established art with humour, energy and pop culture samples.
Pop art is not dead. On the contrary, it is even more vital, aggressive and spontaneous than it has been for a long time. With artists from the Californian skater and surfer scene as the new art comets who use hip hop music, graffiti culture, computer games and comics as a starting point for their art, pop art has received a major vitamin injection in recent years. These artists form the core of the exhibition FunFunFun, which will challenge established art at Vestgalleriet in spring 2008. All works originate from a young private collection, which ARoS has generously been allowed to pick from. A private collection created on the basis of the collectors' own passion for skater culture and pop culture in general and therefore has not had to take historical neatness into account, but on the contrary has allowed humour to be a leitmotif.
