Erik A. Frandsen - Det Dobbelte Rum
About the exhibition
ARoS has the pleasure of presenting one of the most spectacular exhibitions in the museum's history: ERIK A. FRANDSEN - Det Dobbelte Rum
The exhibition, which covers more than 2,000 square metres, unfolds Erik A. Frandsen's artistic work from the early 1980s to the peak of international stature he has reached today. ERIK A. FRANDSEN - Det Dobbelte Rum takes the visitor on a journey through a total installation.
Already in Museumsgaden, the visitor is welcomed by a multitude of coloured fluorescent tubes with Frandsen statements such as Lebensraum, White Power, To-To-Tolerant and Evergreen.
The spectacular journey continues along the spiral staircase with glowing neon 'ghosts', before the visitor is overwhelmed in the large Special Exhibition Gallery by a gigantic five-metre diameter neon chandelier created especially for the exhibition.
The beautiful and colourful neon work completes Erik A. Frandsen's decoration in the Art Restaurant with the three 90 cm diameter neon chandeliers and the four large Frandsen steel pictures with floral motifs from 2004. Both they and the giant neon chandelier are created by the erotic lines that a pair of lovers draw in the air as they caress each other.
The lines in the neon chandelier in the exhibition are thus the traces of an act of love between the artist himself and his wife Anette
