About the exhibition

In 2010, ARoS first invited undiscovered young talents between the ages of 10 and 18 to submit their own work to the CATCH art competition.

The event was a great success, which ARoS will repeat in 2012 with CATCH12 - Junior Biennale. CATCH12 is a chance for young people to cultivate their interest in art with other young people and receive guidance from professional artists. The most talented young people are selected by a panel of judges consisting of professional artists for the final exhibition, which will be on display at ARoS.

CATCH12 gives young people a chance to meet professional artists over four workshops. The workshops are held in visual arts, photography, sculpture and video. The four selected artists: Iben West (video), Jacob Juel (photography), Andreas Schulenburg (sculpture) and finally graffiti artist Mormor (visual arts) will interact with the young people, look at their artistic representations and give ideas for further work. You might also pick up some artist knowledge and a few artist tips along the way. The selection of the works for the exhibition takes place in two phases and is made by the four artists mentioned above. In the final and decisive phase, the young people meet the jury and have the opportunity to talk about their passion, reflections and special interest in art.

At the last biennial in 2010, ARoS experienced the amazing thing that the young people's awareness of their own representations grew through the formulation of thoughts and ideas for a forum that took them very seriously. More than 300 children and young people from all over Denmark submitted their work and filled the walls and floor of the Vestgalleriet.
