Annika von Hausswolff - It All Ends with a New Beginning
About the exhibition
This spring, ARoS will open its doors to the largest museum exhibition to date featuring works by Swedish artist Annika von Hausswolff. The exhibition is entitled ANNIKA VON HAUSSWOLFF - IT ALL ENDS WITH A NEW BEGINNING and will be staged in close collaboration with the artist. Alongside works from the 1990s to the present day, a brand new and site-specific work created especially for the exhibition will also be shown.
An illustrated catalogue in Danish and English will be published for the exhibition. The catalogue is accompanied by new articles on Hausswolff's photographic works and a literary text by author Sara Stridsberg, winner of the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2007.
The exhibition ANNIKA VON HAUSSWOLFF - IT ALL ENDS WITH A NEW BEGINNING can be seen from 26 April - 11 August 2013 in the West Gallery at ARoS.
Familiar and foreign
In front of Hausswolff's motifs of rolled-down blinds, empty rooms with dangerous objects, children with chainsaws and naked bodies in the forest, we encounter a world that seems at once familiar and alien. We enter a parallel world where things become present and people become absent.
New, conceptual and cinematic
Since the 1990s, Hausswolff has established herself as one of Scandinavia's most significant artists. She generally works conceptually, feminist and analytically with the photographic medium and belongs to the circle of young art photographers who approach and use photography in a new and often cinematic way.
