Press release • January 2026
A total of 556,084 visitors used tickets or annual passes to visit ARoS in 2025. In addition, over 93,000 people visited the museum to shop in the ARoS Butik, dine in the ARoS Café or Orangeri, or simply enjoy the atmosphere. This brings the total number of visitors to c. 650,000, on par with 2024.
“The figures for 2025 show that ARoS continues to hold a firm and meaningful place in the hearts and minds of our guests,” says Museum Director Rebecca Matthews, adding:
“We are satisfied with our visitor numbers in 2025. The consistency and the loyalty we see from our guests is remarkable. Even as we navigate major physical changes to the museum, including the delay to opening our extraordinary Dome, people continue to show up for ARoS. Their commitment speaks volumes, and we are deeply grateful for it.”

High Expectations for 2026
2026 will be a historic year for ARoS, as the museum’s collection will expand to include one of the world’s largest public Skyspaces. The opening is scheduled for 19 June 2026.
“2026 marks the beginning of a new chapter for ARoS. James Turrell’s Skyspace will become a new landmark for the museum, eagerly anticipated by visitors both in Denmark and abroad. The work enhances our collection, sits at the heart of a vibrant programme of new exhibitions and activities and sets the tone for a year in which light, sensory perception, and shared experiences will define everything we present,” says Board Leader Laura Hay Uggla.
