Press release • october 2025
When Sally's dad celebrates Christmas, things can get a little crazy. And this year will be no exception. Throughout December, Sally's dad will move into ARoS bringing his Christmas chaos to the museum.
In collaboration with Forlaget Carlsen, we are transforming ARoS Salon into a winter-decorated Christmas workshop filled with fun activities for the whole family. Here you can make your own Sally's dad paper elves, cut and fold colorful garlands, or wrap a fart as the most personal gift of the season – just like Sally's cheeky little brother Eddie.
When you feel the need to stretch your legs, join Sally's dad on a Christmas hunt around the museum and explore the art.
Meet Sally's dad in real life
Ever wondered how much of the embarrassing stuff in the books has also happened in real life? And do Sally, Eddie and Svend really exist?
You can find out when Thomas Brunstrøm, author of the popular children's books, visits ARoS on November 30. Listen to his story about how the books came to life and about the chaotic, incorrect and – above all – embarrassing father who has captivated children across Denmark.
Immerse yourself in creative crafts
In November and December, ARoS invites you to five creative holiday workshops under the title The Art of..., where you can explore different crafts and create personal Christmas gifts with guidance from experienced artisans and educators. This is not about ready-made kits or quick fixes, but about immersion, technique and materials that will spark your creativity.
- The art of paper weaving with PaperMatrix
- The art of modelling clay with YONOBI
- The art of decorating candles with AHNE
- The art of building mobiles with Kasper Kjeldgaard, known from Denmark's Next Classic
- The art of repairing clothes with Emma Skovmoes
Denmark's most beautiful Lucia procession
On 13 December, we bring light into the winter darkness when 40 children sing the Christmas spirit into the museum. The magical Lucia procession filled with tradition will wind its way through ARoS and end at the top of the museum, where the lights will shine beautifully in Olafur Eliasson's Your rainbow panorama.
Throughout the holiday season, you can also enjoy glühwein and the Danish Christmas specialty æbleskiver in ARoS Café, or you can shop for unique Christmas gifts in ARoS Butik.
