Press release • september 2025
From September 8-14 2025, everyone under the age of 27 could enjoy free access to more than 200 museums and exhibition venues across Denmark. At ARoS, an average of over 1,300 young people visited daily, securing ARoS’ position as the most popular destination during the week.
“It was fantastic to see so many young people finding their way to ARoS during K7. They engage with art with great curiosity and energy, creating a unique atmosphere throughout the museum. This year’s visitor numbers is a clear sign that art continues to be relevant also for the next generation,” says museum director Rebecca Matthews.
In collaboration with 15 young people from Aarhus, ARoS curated a special programme for Friday September 12: ARoS After Hours – K7 Edition. Among other thing, the event featured a poetry performance by Unge Danske Digtere (Young Danish Poets), arm wrestling with Aarhus Armwrestlers, a K7 quiz hosted by activist sex toy shop Peech, a concert by Downtown July, and a Sunset Silent Disco in Olafur Eliasson’s iconic Your rainbow panorama at the top of ARoS.
More than 2,000 young people took part in ARoS After Hours – K7 Edition, with the silent disco and the Downtown July concert proving to be major crowd-pullers.
“Such high visitor numbers are a testament to the strong interest in the art experiences that ARoS offers – also among young people. This motivates us to continue creating opportunities for meaningful encounters between art and audiences of all ages,” says Rebecca Matthews.
